Une soirée bien agréable!
Well it has happened at last! Following the redecorating of the Club House Hotel in Kilkenny we have now created our own French Corner in the bar, known as ‘Le Coin Français’. It will feature French newspapers, magazines and on Thursday mornings, French speakers!
The idea is that those who are free can gather and chat in French on a Thursday morning from 10 am. So you can have your coffee and pastry, pastis or coup de rouge, read about the latest issues in France and chat with whatever French you have to those who are gathered there. This is a no-pressure environment while we’ll appreciate your scintillating conversation (if you have it) just a few words and smiles are all you need.
So starting Thursday 28th April you can come and meet your fellow French enthusiasts. Look for Le Coin Français in the bar and come and join whoever is there!
Sahara Kauoane, a French sociology graduate, will address these questions, as well as examining the concept of imagination as a consumer product. She will look at the role of fairy tales, morals and nature in the creation of this “perfect” place. Quite an interesting topic, n’est-ce pas?
The presentation will be followed by tea and coffee. You also be treated to special madeleines (from Catherine) and a chanson (from Sahara, who is multi-talented!). This event takes place at the Club House Hotel at 8:30 pm on Monday 18th April. All are welcome to attend.
At our last cultural event Maelle Champenois presented her region, Aube en Champagne, and served a delicious Soupe de Champagne! This is a just a selection of photos from a very enjoyable soirée.
Maëlle Champenois est originaire du petit village champenois de Saint Etienne sous Barbuise et vit dans le Comté de Kilkenny depuis 1999.
To celebrate La Journée internationale de la Francophonie, on 21st March, she will introduce the many trésors of her home département of Aube en Champagne. La région is famous for the bubbly stuff but is also rich en histoire, architecture, arts et gastronomie.
La soirée, hosted by Alliance Francaise de Kilkenny, will conclude with a demonstration and tasting of Soupe Champenoise, a typical Champagne cocktail.
You are warmly invited to the soirée, to be held at the Club House Hotel, at 8.30 p.m., 21st March 2016. All are welcome to attend.
